Social Enterprise update

Summer is here and it’s time for some DIY

We all know that summer time is the time of year for getting the odd jobs done around the house and garden, our social enterprise team have recently been working with The Ecology Centre who have opened a Tool Library,  so if like us you spend money on a tool that you know will only be used once. You can pop along to the Ecology Centre and join the library for £10 they have a huge range of tools ranging from car maintenance tools, carpentry tools to ladders.

Glenrothes Men’s Shed

Talking of tools, we are delighted that the Glenrothes Men’s Shed are finally opening their doors this month. This is the culmination of many months of patience, determination, stubbornness, hard work and commitment by members and supporters alike. If you are interested in going along, creating something fantastic and having some banter for more information

Fife Social Enterprise Network

Our summer networking event was hosted at the centre for Stewardship in Falkland, a wonderful venue if anyone is looking.

Simple Shelters – Tara told us about the amazing work they are doing at Falkland and hoping to replicate all over. If you would like to be involved in any way or just want to know more, please see here:

The Big Lottery – Gurdeep gave us an overview of the local area teams and how they are there to help you when applying for funding and what funds are available. For more info visit:

Or call the Advice Team on: 0300 123 7110 or you can contact Gurdeep directly – [email protected]

Digital Boost – Karen from Business Gateway came along to give us more info on what can be accessed through Digital Boost. They don’t have the funding for the 21 hours of free support any more (you should have got in there quicker) though they have applied for more funding so I’ll let you know if they get that. You can still, however, get some great 1:1 support and there are always the free workshops they do on digital skills and everything else! Call Karen on 01592 858330 or visit:

GDPR @ Thorntons Law LLP – Rachel managed to make GDPR a little less boring for us all with her lively talk about what it really means. The crux of it is that if you don’t need the personal info, get rid of it. If you do need it, just make sure you’ve got permission to keep it! For more info or if you need to get yourself GDPR ready contact Rachel on 01382 229111 or email her at [email protected]. More info about GDPR:

Don’t forget, the Social Enterprise Team at Brag are here to give you support so whether you are struggling with business planning, need some help finding funding, free training / workshops, new board members or want to learn new skills or maybe you want to share a good news story, please do get in touch with Sue or Lee.

Finally, we are conducting a survey of the Fife Social Enterprise Network (FSEN) just now  and would  be delighted if you could complete it and return to us here at Brag. You can post it back to us or  email it to [email protected]
