Brian was appointed as BRAG’s MD in January 2016. He has a long history of working in the welfare to work sector. His career started as a self-employed builder before he joined the prison service back in 1990. After serving a few years as a basic grade officer he transferred to prison industries where he became a joinery instructor and then Regimes Manager. He then moved to the private sector and formed part of the management team that opened Scotland’s first private prison HMP Kilmarnock. After leaving there as a governor grade he then spent a short time setting up a whisky company before  then joining the voluntary sector back in 2002.

He describes himself as a social entrepreneur having been involved in several new social enterprise ventures.

Brian is also a Trustee and Chair of Glenrothes Y (YMCA) and recently became a Trustee of FEAT CIC that operate Silverburn Park in Leven
