In January, a Kirkcaldy funeral home issued a heartfelt request on Facebook, asking local residents to knit pairs of “love hearts” to support families who had experienced the loss of a baby during pregnancy. Each pair holds a special meaning: one heart is placed with the Angel Baby when they are laid to rest, while the matching heart is given to the parents as a keepsake.
The post quickly gathered significant attention and touched the members of the Crochet Club. Demonstrating outstanding community spirit, club members collaborated by sharing patterns and ideas, ultimately producing a selection of knitted love hearts in a variety of colours.
As the funeral home that made the initial appeal began receiving an overwhelming number of donations, the Crochet Club ensured that their contributions would continue to make an impact. The love hearts they created have now been donated to a local funeral home, allowing more families to receive comfort and support during difficult times.
The Crochet Club continues to welcome new members and invites anyone interested—regardless of experience—to join their friendly weekly sessions. Meetings are held every Friday at 10:30am, and all are welcome to take part in crafting for a cause.
