Job Brooker Case Study
C had been working with his Brag Employability Coach for just over 12 months, and he began working with Craig, BRAG’s Job Brooker, previously C had worked in an office environment doing administrative or customer service roles. Despite C applying and interviewing for positions he had been unable to secure a position.
The local Job Centre were advertising for an unpaid work experience role. The role was for a car valeter within a local, well established accident repair centre. Criag discussed the role with C, helped him to apply and discussed what would be expected of him during the work experience.
C started his work experience, and he excelled so much in the role that the employers ended his work experience early and transitioned him to a full time, paid and permanent position.
Leven Case Study for July 2026
B was referred to Brag by the Job Centre. He had not engaged in employment or education for over a year. B was placed with an employability coach who discussed his interests and hopes for the future and helped to identify cyber security as a career of interest. After exploring college courses, B did not have the qualifications required for any suitable courses as he had missed a lot of time at school due to an ongoing health condition.
BRAG’s Employability Coach contacted Fife College careers guidance team and was advised that he would need to meet the entry requirements for this course and this led to further research on college courses which would enable him to gain the required qualifications but due to funding cuts there are no access courses available for him.
B agreed to a referral to ABE to gain modules that will increase his qualifications – knowing that ABE would not be able to facilitate the required qualifications for the required course.
The Keyworker called the college again to discuss B’s predicament and explain his aptitude and current knowledge of the course content. This time they were advised to apply anyway and outline his suitability and current knowledge in his personal statement.
B worked closely with his keyworker working on a strong personal statement that outlined his suitability and knowledge for his desired course as well as assisting him with his application and completing interview preparation for his interview with this college, although B lacked the qualifications required, B was successful in gaining a place on the course!
BRAG’s involvement, however, continued as his keyworker was aware that B was not confident about taking the bus from his home to the campus in Kirkcaldy. The keyworker accompanied him on a trial run of the bus journey and walked to the college, which he said he appreciated. They also had a look around the campus so that B would know the layout once he was a student.
B is very pleased with the outcome and is looking forward to starting the course.
Local Woman Secures Multiple Job Offers with BRAG’s Support
"R", a resident of Newburgh, faced significant challenges when looking for work. With no formal qualifications, previous job experience, and a limited public transport network, her options were severely restricted. However, thanks to the dedicated support of BRAG, a local employability service, she was able to turn things around.
Referred to BRAG for help finding employment, R began working closely with her keyworker, focusing on building a strong CV, developing self-awareness, and boosting her confidence. Recognising the limitations of Newburgh's transport links to Perth and other areas of Fife, BRAG encouraged her to focus on opportunities closer to home. Despite the distance, R attended BRAG’s retail skills course, determined to expand her potential.
BRAG’s Job Broker took proactive steps, reaching out to local employers on R’s behalf. Though no immediate opportunities arose, R embraced the advice she received: in small towns, personal engagement and local connections often play a critical role in finding work. Armed with her new CV and confidence in her abilities, R visited local businesses in person, following up on potential openings.
Her efforts paid off! Within a short time, R received five job offers and is now successfully managing four of them. BRAG’s continued support and R's determination have helped her overcome significant barriers, demonstrating the power of community-based employability services.
This success story highlights the valuable work BRAG does in supporting individuals like R to overcome obstacles and achieve their employment goals.
