Exciting progress is being made to bring Cowdenbeath Town House back to life, as work continues to transform the historic building into a vibrant community space.
With all surveys now complete, work on site is well underway. Contractors Linear are fully set up and making steady progress inside the building, where strip‑out work internally is now finished, along with repairs to damaged timber beams and the first phase of electrical work has begun. Over the coming weeks, there will be even more visible changes as the project moves into its next stage. Scaffolding will go up around the outside of the building to allow important repair work to take place. Inside, work will continue at pace, including installing a new attic floor, plastering and decorating, as well as joinery and further electrical and mechanical works.

These works mark an important step in bringing the much‑loved building back into use as a welcoming and useful space for local people. Councillor Altany Craik, Spokesperson - Finance, Economy & Strategic Planning said:
“It’s fantastic to see real progress at Cowdenbeath Town House. This building means a great deal to local people, and it’s exciting to see it being brought back into use. Step by step, we’re creating a space that will be welcoming, inclusive and full of opportunities for the community. We’re looking forward to seeing it take shape over the coming months.”

When complete, the Town House will be run by BRAG Enterprises who will be providing affordable enterprise office space as well as offering a range of community‑focused services including a café, meeting and event spaces, a community radio station, with the venue also being available for wedding ceremonies. They also plan to showcase the heritage of the town and its people with pictures and displays.

Brian Robertson, CEO of BRAG Enterprises, added:“We’re really pleased with how work is progressing on site. There’s still a lot to do, but you can now clearly see the changes happening inside the building. Step by step, we’re moving closer to reopening the doors and creating a space that feels welcoming, inclusive and pride of place for the whole community. We can’t wait to see it come to life.”

The project partners – Fife Council, HubCo, Linear and BRAG Enterprises will continue to keep the community updated as work moves forward. Updates will also be displayed outside the Town House so local people can follow progress. The project is supported by: £1.1m – Regeneration Capital Grant Fund £1.1m – Place Based Investment Fund £126,966 – Fife Council Capital Fund £35,000 – Cowdenbeath Area Committee Information and updates on the project can also be found at our.fife.scot/cowdenbeathtownhouse
