BRAG is proud to celebrate Volunteers’ Week 2026, recognising the incredible contributions of volunteers across the organisation and throughout communities nationwide. Volunteers’ Week is a UK-wide initiative that honours the millions of people who generously give their time, skills and passion to support individuals, families and local communities.
At BRAG, volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. From supporting the Pantry and helping run Full House Fridays. Helping to plant, maintain and harvest the community garden and assisting at fun days, markets and one-off events, their dedication plays a vital role in delivering essential services and creating welcoming spaces for the community.
The week’s celebrations were further enhanced by success at the Fife Voluntary Action Volunteering and Voluntary Sector Awards 2026, held on 2 June. Re-Employ, a long-standing tenant within BRAG’s Crosshill site, was recognised with the Trustee/Board Member Award. Irene Donalson was praised by judges for her outstanding commitment to helping others find purpose, and for the lasting impact she has made on vulnerable and disabled people within the community.
BRAG also celebrated the achievement of one of its own volunteers, Betty, who was shortlisted for the Mature Volunteer Award. While Betty did not take home the award, being shortlisted is a significant accomplishment, and reflects her dedication and valued contribution to BRAG’s work—particularly within The Pantry.
Kirsten Spence, Senior Operations Manager (Communities), said:
“We are celebrating all our volunteers across the organisation, but we wanted to highlight this huge achievement for Betty Hunter, who makes such a difference to The Pantry. Along with all of our volunteers, we simply could not provide the services we do within our communities without their support, dedication and commitment. We are extremely grateful to each and every one of them.”
