BRAG welcomed Employability clients, families and partners to its Crosshill headquarters last week to celebrate the successful completion of the 2026 Games Design Course.

Now in its third year, the programme is delivered in partnership with Abertay University and brings together students working towards their master’s degree in games design with young people who are working with a BRAG Employability Keyworker. The games design course provides participants with the opportunity to develop creative, technical and teamwork skills through a real-world game development project.

Over the course of 14 weeks, six young people from the Bright Futures programme worked alongside Abertay University students to design and produce a fully functioning PC game, Horde of the Heart.

The 2.5D fantasy adventure game follows the journey of Bragon the Dragon as he explores a magical world in search of treasure to build a hoard of his own. Player’s travel across a variety of locations, interact with characters, battle enemies and collect rewards as they progress through the adventure.

Guests were given the opportunity to play Horde of the Heart during the celebration and gain insight into the game's development process. Displays showcased early concepts, prototypes and character designs, highlighting the creativity, innovation and dedication demonstrated by everyone involved throughout the project.

The success of this year's programme highlights the strength of BRAG’s partnership with Abertay University, and we would like to take this opportunity to thank Andrew Reid and the students at Abertay for hosting our young people this year.

The Games Design Course will be running again in 2027, if you would want to attend or want more information on the course or any of BRAG’s Employability Services, please contact the team on [email protected]
