This year, Re-Employ has expanded, adding several new services and a wide range of new products. Our offerings now include everything from embroidery and branding to bespoke commissions for all occasions.
Throughout this growth, we have remained true to our primary goal: training people to re-enter the workforce. Our mission is to "Re-Employ" individuals with disabilities and disadvantages, equipping them with skills that you can learn more about on our website. As a Social Enterprise at heart, we encourage all our clients to embrace their social responsibility and choose to work with us!
We recently spent some time with Irene from Re-Employ and had a quick Q&A session. Here are some things you might want to know!
What does your business do?
- Re-Employ specialises in garment sourcing, providing personalised gifts, and workwear solutions. We offer custom embroidery or transfers on any garment, not just workwear, as well as personalised mugs for gifts or corporate use. Our services also include precision cutting and engraving, along with unique signage and branding solutions tailored to your needs.
How long have you been in business?
- Re-Employ started at Brag on 22 July 2016.
What are the benefits of being based at BRAG?
- Great premises with great Brag staff. They are always helpful and supportive.
A fun fact about Re-Employ?
- Although we are busy, we try to make time for some fun to keep morale high. Every day, indeed, every hour brings something different with our employees and volunteers.
What’s your proudest achievement in business so far?
- We are proud to be the first organisation in Fife to achieve Disability Confident Leader status. Our team includes employees and volunteers who are considered to be furthest from the labour market, yet they consistently excel in their work, completing tasks promptly and to a high standard.
What has surprised you most about running your own business?
- The surprising element is – I’m Still Standing!!! The networking and working partnerships we have are superb and each day brings surprises!
Have you got a message for BRAG?
- BRAG has supported Re-Employ since the introduction of the Connect Programme, which BRAG set up for the Cowdenbeath Remploy Factory after it closed in 2016. They played a key role in establishing the new social enterprise, Re-Employ, which began operations after Remploy closed. The company started with four employees, each with 36 years of service at Remploy, who struggled to understand why they had been made redundant. At the time, BRAG provided a unit and various pieces of equipment to help us get started and have continued to be a vital source of help and support. The BRAG staff have been, and continue to be, superb!
